# 332: A warm welcome

The leaves have left the trees, the birds are heading south, autumn will pass the baton to winter very soon, and a good friend of mine is well prepared. Memo to self: visit more often ;0)

# 331: A case of The Blues?

No, I'm happy enough thanks - count your blessings...

# 330: Attention seeking?

Meow?
"If I sit right about...here, you have to fuss me."
"Yeh, ok, I'm trying to work here, ok??"

The beauty of shooting in RAW
If you grab the camera quick and had left it on tungsten white balance.... here is the 'before' shot, SOOC.
I generally have it set to cloudy or daylight, sometimes AWB, but shooting in RAW means its academic. I also have exposure compensation at -2/3 to protect hilights, hence a dark shot - there's a window to my right but the blind is closed. Had I stopped to put speedlite on, or stood to open the blind, she would have moved!

# 329: Straight lines

Shallow depth of field is my favourite thing.
Can you tell what it is?
Enhanced in Ps using Nik Silver Efex Pro2.

# 328: Celebration - Cantata

Celebration time for the official opening of a fabulous new theatre and refectory facility, with all mod cons and available for the local community to boot, at the senior school. Following a showcase of talented musicians across the whole of the school year groups, Cantata (pictured) sang I Write the Songs and The Rythym of Life, and were then joined by the staff and student choirs for the finale, New York New York.
What a great evening :0)

# 327: Camouflaged

Easy to miss.

# 326: Green

This is the colour it was, but what was it?

And do you like the monochrome version better?
Macro close up...love my 105 ;0)

# 325: A change in the weather

This is one of my favourite trees - we are lucky to live on the edge of the Derbyshire countryside. The changing seasons are a constant source of wonderment. Autumn leaves are almost all fallen, the temperature is dropping, but I'm looking forward to winter. Bring it on.

# 323: Out of Order

Migraine attack!
Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

# 322: the venue

iPhone grab shot of tonight's venue for event photography with a friend and colleague. It was a busy night!

# 321: Preening in the sun

Rosie has always liked sitting in the sun, even in the hottest weather. Autumn is well under way and temperatures are dropping, so lets enjoy the sunshine while we can.

# 320: Crumbs!

Don't you just hate it when you come to open a new packet and when you tear back the tab you are greeted with a mass of crumbs? Argh! There's only one thing for it, dump the whole packet into a box with an air tight lid or be stepping on crumbs in the pantry for several days. The broken ones are no good for dunking, a chunk will always drop off in your tea! Criminal...just criminal... :0}

# 319: Allestree Woods

We have had alternate blue sky and grey sky days, and today I took advantage of the blue sky and sunshine to get a little photo-therapy in Allestree Woods. It lifted my spirits.

# 318: Master bedroom

Jodie is passionate about all things equine. These are two of her many Schleich model horses in their new 'house'. She decided to make a house from cardboard boxes, fabric is cut to size for a carpet, fluffy knitting yarn is wrapped closely around some off-cuts of corrugated cardboard to make a bed with a pillow, and a strip of cardboard bent to make a staircase. It kept her quiet all afternoon on Saturday and most of Sunday too. A new foal has arrived, so she needs to make an extension. Excellent.

# 317: My Son

Although we share a lot of music, he spends less time just listening to music than I do. We spend most evenings in the same room working at PCs side by side. I listen to music while he is looking at YouTube or gaming, which would seriously interfere with my sounds, so the headphones are a life saver. His life.

# 313: Hedgerow bounty

I am very lucky to live a stone's throw from the Derbyshire countryside, providing rich pickings for wildlife as well as us photographers. I photographed bracken, silver birch and hawthorn in the space of a few metres. I must return when the frost comes, and then the snow. I didn't like winter before, but its a different story now, I'm looking forward to it. An outdoor clothing chain has a strapline which says something like there's no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothing - thermal underwear and glove liners ready... Bring it on!

# 312: Un-seasonal?

There are autumn colours in the garden, but also, early spring flowers. The leaves on the forsythia are fabulous in their reds and yellows, but there shouldn't be flowers until February. I've never seen blossom and leaves on the shrub at the same time in autumn before.

# 311: Home at last

My journey home was longer than expected tonight. The usual route from where my photography club meet in Littleover includes a small section of the A38 northbound. I approached the junction, beyond the point of no return, just as the last traffic cone touched tarmac closing off my route :0(  I had no choice but to go south and double back to take the long way home, can't call it the scenic route, seeing as it was now dark! This iphone shot through the windscreen shows how my headlights illuminate the window of my workroom when I pull onto the drive, made more eerie with a Topaz filter. I hadn't touched my cam all day, very busy.

# 310: Rosie

Rosie was on Jodie's lap while Jodie was watching tv. The sun provided a little rim lighting - grabbed camera before Rosie scooted, she doesn't like being photographed!

# 309: Gunpowder, Treason & Plot

Look into the flames...what do you see?
Its a bit like cloud-watching - I see a figure on the far side running to the right.
Neighbours invited us over for some food and fireworks, the bonfire was excellent. Many thanks to B, C & E for a great evening.
A friend has recently contacted me after a long long time, and way back when we enjoyed some amazing pyrotechnics, I often think of those times around Bonfire Night.

# 308: Catching the (dental) rays

My brave girl back in the dentist's chair only a few weeks after the last visit. Less remedial work required this time fortunately, in and out much quicker.

# 307: Sunset

Subtle colours, pretty cloud patterns, enhanced with topaz simplify.

# 306: The Pull-back Shot II

I had a toddler group shoot today, I took these images of the set up because I will be delivering a short talk about being a photographer as part of a careers event at Oliver's school. I should have packed my 10-20mm ;0) But I do quite like the photomerged version! See also # 257.

# 305: Fibonacci sequence

I love seeing patterns in nature. I dislike maths. But the two are inextricably linked. See this animated sequence, amazing stuff.

# 304: Improvised

I've lost the festive plot somewhat this year, so had to improvise for halloween ;0)
(Its a satsuma, painted on features with a sharpie!)

# 303: Zebra zebra

Any guesses what and where in my house this is?
iphone, edited in Ps with Silver Efex Pro.

# 302: Leaf Map

Look closely at the line patterns on the back of this leaf... remind me of how urban areas are shown on OS maps...the red lines are like decreasingly small roads.

# 301: Autumn Gold

My favourite tree is dripping with autumn gold at this time of year, my favourite season.

# 300: Meg

Meg.
Thanks for the cuppa, chat, & doughnut Marion ;0)

# 299: Time for...

...putting back the clocks.
and a ride on the Wheel.

# 298: Autumn colour

Sedum, treated to a little Color Efex Pro action via Ps, a touch of HDR-esque editing.

# 297: That was a cupcake, past tense.

I was going to photograph this pretty chocolate cupcake but suddenly... it was gone!

# 296: Red Oktober

We went to a special event at Crich Tramway Village: eastern block cars, hence Red Oktober, saw some Trabants, Ladas, Skodas, and more, all lovingly restored and maintained by enthusiasts.

Jodie and Blue

Jodie has been riding since she was 7, over half her life. Just. Ownership is costly, but she's learning life skills and life lessons...
