We picked up Jodie's new bike today. The new one is not the next size up, but the one up from that, so she's only just big enough for it at its smallest settings, but it should last her at least three years. That's why this is a controlled fall - its a much heavier bike and she can only just ride it, so when she brakes to stop she tilts to her left to put a foot down and (usually) doesn't let the bike go all the way to the ground.
Once she's adjusted to how heavy it is, she'll be able to ride off the grass, but we'll err on the side of caution for a little while until she's coming to a halt with more confidence.

It doesn't seem like five minutes since her Dad was running behind her last summer after he'd taken the stabiliser wheels off her first one! See this entry.
